There is more progress! This morning, I reviewed the sample chapter lay-out from the production crew and approved the final interior design for the book. There were a few minor changes in formatting. You do have to review everything carefully. I wished for another set of eyes looking over my shoulders. It is exciting to see every little part that gets you closer to a finished book. I think the production team is good and I'll have a professional looking book when it is all finished. I've been busy making more marketing contacts. I'm slowly learning the hoops an author has to go through in an attempt to get the book on the shelf in a store. I do enjoy talking to people about my book and everyone so far, seems to have an interest in seeing it. You do have to make that phone call and talk to people. I've been busy setting up a data base of contacts for announcements and mailings when the time comes. It is hard to get any kind of commitment from small store owners when you don't know the exact cost of the book or how many copies they will need to purchase. It is important to get the book on the shelves so people see it when they shop.

I do have a huge regret. It would have been great to have had a thumbnail image display at the start of each new chapter. Since I'm not an artist, I would have had to pay someone, but it would have been cool. I get compliments regularly on the book cover. Additional art would have added a lot to the interior lay-out. Next time!
